Since the issuance of the newsletter on July 11, 2008, several address changes have been received, a few ‘lost’ classmates have been found, and our list of deceased classmates has expanded.
We have new addresses for the following: Forbess, William C. Gortney, Charles L. Dyson, Nina HARRIS McDade, Ava Marie MICHAEL Morrisey, Dorothy BABER Sailer, Ima CAPLE Sterling, Robert Strange, Peggy MADISON
Thanks to those who provided the addresses for these classmates.
A continuing effort to keep our records current has included a search for death records of ‘lost’ classmates. Additionally, recent obituary notices in various newspapers have added to our deceased list, and we appreciate those who have submitted copies of obits to us.
Death records search was conducted using Internet sources, especially www.familysearch.org, the website for the Mormon Church, which has an enormous collection of data. By inserting the name of a classmate in the information box, there are options for birth, marriage, and death records. This source now includes the U. S. Social Security Death Index. Using the SSDI primarily, a number of classmates have been identified.
Readers who conduct genealogy research know that frequently there are a number of persons with the same name. Scrolling down through a listing and watching for a birth year of 1929, 1930, or 1931 is a key. Then, reviewing the SSDI last known address for the deceased and matching its ZIP code with the ZIP on our mailing list, confirms the death of our classmate.
The following persons have been added to our Deceased Classmates for January & May Classes.
Biggs, Carolyn SCROGGIN, d. 5/11/1998 Duncan, Billie KERR, d. 7/15/2008 Gilmore, Alice McDONALD, d. 4/17/1999 Harris, Alan Dale, d. 11/27/2008 Huffman, Betty PETERSON, d. 7/8/2006 Lewis, Meredith MILLER, d. 9/25/2008 Merritt, Allen, d. 9/8/2006 Reel, Lydia BRYANT, d. 12/24/1999 Roberts, William Preston, d. 8/17/2003 Ross, John Wesley “Jack”, d. 11/9/08 Rushing, Marjorie MAXWELL, d. 11/14/2008 Seaman, Helen Jane MOODY, d. 3/18/2006 Tucker, Jack A., d. 11/6/2008 Williams, James (Estel), d. 9/17/2007 Wood, Marjorie WARD, d. 1/25/2004
Charles H. Blustein was listed in the newsletter inadvertently as deceased. He is living in Memphis, TN. We apologize for the error.
Many of you have sent notes regarding the newsletter, and I appreciate your comments and your support toward its expense. Periodic updates, such as this, will be prepared. Also, information will be submitted to Ray Hudson for posting on the LRHS Reunion Website.
Please continue to submit any information about classmates. Also, while the addresses of classmates are not being published via this e-mail, I will gladly provide the address of any person that you seek to contact.
Best wishes.

We left the stadium to begin new lives in many schools, careers, and places. But, we have not forgotten those wonderful years in Little Rock during our youth. Now, we are preparing to celebrate the 60th anniversary of our graduation on June 11th and 12th, certainly an accomplishment of some magnitude by any measure.
As of today, 41 persons have registered to attend the 'Dutch Treat Dinner' on June 11th, and 143 persons have registered to attend the luncheon on June 12th. We look forward to these events.
As you go about your day today, I know you will want to remember the 'commencement' event on May 28, 1948.

Hello Classmates and Friends -
It may be hard to believe but it has been almost sixty years (60) since we graduated from Little Rock High School in May 1948.
This significant year is sufficient to celebrate and we are in the early stages of planning a reunion in Little Rock. One suggestion is to have a daytime event - a l uncheon followed by dancing to the music of a DJ or perhaps a band. The daytime event would be suitable for many of us, especially those who can no longer drive at night or have other disabilities
We would have a program for reminiscing and the opportunity to visit with one another. Additionally, those who live outside of Arkansas would have a chance to see \how our hometown has grown and progressed!
We may be able to use the facilities of the Pleasant Valley Country Club for our meeting. Possibly, we will need to be flexible on the day of the week that most suits the Club and that should not be a problem, since I hope not too many of us are still employed during the week!
A reunion in early June 2008 would give us time to gather the details about up-to-date addresses for our classmates and friends and provide time for the usual planning required for such an event. Also, planning an event about four (4) months in the future will give you time to review your own schedule and plan to attend our reunion.
I am serving as the Communications Volunteer. We would like to know your interest in attending this reunion. Let us hear from you at your earliest convenience. Tom Curry and Neil Dobbins will be part of our Reunion Committee and we seek your help, too.
Thank you.
