You must contact NetPlus and we will change the password for you.
Are the classifieds free for anyone or just NetPlus users?
The classifieds are free to NetPlus users. Others may place ads for a small fee. See our services page for details.
Why can't I put things for sale on my personal webpage?
Commercial and personal advertisements are reserved for commercial pages. This also gets your page listed on our business listing.
Can we run scripts are the server?
All scripts must be approved and installed by netplus. We charge an hourly fee to review the scripts, and once approved, we will place them on the server so you may access them. See out services page for details.
I am buying a 56K modem, will it work with
NetPlus?
It should work fine, but our highest connect speed is 33.6. We will not be supporting the
56K standard until sometime in the future. For additional info see the K56 Flex or the X2 sites.
Can we use bots and frontpage extensions?
Due to security issues with the frontpage extensions, we do not support them at this time. We may in the future provide a server dedicated to microsoft server extensions.
We cannot get our NetPlus software loaded, what
are our options?
If you cannot get your software loaded, you may call us on the phone for assistance. You
may also drop your computer at the NetPlus office, and we will configure the system for
you at no charge.
I would like to upgrade my system, can NetPlus do
upgrades?
NetPlus can do hardware and some software upgrades. Call NetPlus Technical Support
at 740-342-4850 for more information.
What happened to the GrapeVine?
The GrapeVine was replaced with NetPlus local newsgroups. To access them, select
MAIL-READ NEWS. In the news browser select NEWSGROUPS and scroll down to the NetPlus
groups, select one and click GOTO. You can also access them from here.
How can I setup my own webpage and get it on the

How do I add a page counter to my homepage?

I have my files on the server, but they do not work right. What could be wrong?
The two most common problems are the main file must be named index.html and that all the files on our UNIX server are case sensitive, Bigdog.html, bigdog.html, and BIGDOG.html are all different files to UNIX.
How much is the front page ad?
The front page ads are $35.00 per week.
I upgraded from windows 3.1 to windows 95, do I need new NetPlus software?
The 3.1 version is 16 bit, you should reinstall the 32 bit win95 version which is on the netplus installation cd you should have received upon sign up, unless you requested 3½ floppy disks.
What are your peak usage times?
Our peak usage time is between 7PM and 11PM.
Can I use Netscape Communicator 4.01a to publish my page to NetPlus?
Not at this time. We are still testing this feature with our server. Keep checking back.
How do I know if what is going on with NetPlus?
Always check the homepage for announcements, new
features, and server status. More detailed information is on our news page.
How do I transfer large files back and forth if I
cannot email them?
You must use the Netplus ftp server to transfer large files. These instructions will assist you.
NOTE- You must login as anonymous and the password is guest@netpluscom to see
the proper directories. Place your files to be transferred in the "incoming"
directory. The other party can do the same to give you files, or retrieve the files you
place there. NOTE- These files are visible to the world.

I cannot access chat sites, and I get java errors,
what could be wrong?
Most likely you need the 3.02 version of microsoft explorer. You can download this
version for win95 at our ftp site. Download the file msie302m95.exe. It will install java and security
updates.
A message keeps coming up,"content
advisor missing or has been tampered with"
This is a microsoft security warning. In the browser, click VIEW-OPTIONS-SECURITY tab. If
it is on, disable it. If it is off, turn it on then turn it back off again. If this does
not work, contact NetPlus for assistance.
I keep getting security alert messages that i received a "cookie"?
To turn off this warning, at the browser, select VIEW-OPTIONS-ADVANCED tab. Uncheck the
"warn before accepting cookies" selection. Click OK at the bottom. Some info on cookies.
My browser says "performed an illegal
function" each time I launch it.
This usually means the explorer software is corrupted. You should reload the NetPlus
software from the disks or locate the Netplus folder on your hard drive, and run the file
msie301x.exe. This will reinstall your software and should preserve your settings. If the
problem persists, contact NetPlus support.
I lost my Netplus home page when my browser
starts, how do I get it back?
In the browser, select VIEW-OPTIONS-NAVIGATION tab. In the address line, put in the
NetPlus home page -- http://www.netpluscom.com/
How do I delete my history folder and the temporary files stored on my system?
From the browser, select VIEW-OPTIONS. Select NAVIGATION tab, and click the clear history button. Select ADVANCE- tab at the top, click on SETTINGS, and click EMPTY FOLDER.
When I launch my browser, it no longer dials NetPlus automatically, why?
From the browser, select VIEW-OPTIONS. Select CONNECTION tab. Check the box
"connect to the internet as needed" and make sure Netplus is selected in the
dial up network connection window. Click OK to save the configuration. You can also set
this option by selecting START-SETTINGS-CONTROL PANEL and double clicking INTERNET.
How much space do I have for my email and how do I remove it from the server?
You have 5 megabytes of personal space for both your email and your webpage. If you receive a large quantity of mail, set your browser to remove mail from the server. This is done by selecting MAIL-OPTIONS tab in the mail browser. Select SERVER tab, click on ADVANCED SETTINGS and uncheck "leave a copy of messages on server" checkbox.
Why is there a 1.5 megabyte file size limit on my email?
This is a security measure to prevent what are called "email bombs", very
large emails that can severely slow or crash a server. A better way to transfer large
files is using the NetPlus FTP server. Put your large files in the "incoming"
folder, and then have the other person retrieve the file the same way. The following instructions will help you.
NOTE - You must use the login anonymous with a password of guest@netpluscom. If you use
your login and password, you will see your directory and not the ftp server. NOTE - These
files are visible to the world.
What is my POP3 account and mail server?
Your POP3 account is your netplus login. The mail server is mail.netpluscom.com
Someone sends me something in my email, and all I get is a paperclip
The item that was sent is an attachment, which is represented by the paperclip. Clicking on the paperclip will cause windows to detach the message. If windows does not recognize the file type, double click the original mail message which brings it up in another form with the attachment on the bottom. RIGHT click on the attachment and SAVE-AS, and save it to your hard drive.
What is compacting my mail and how do I do it?
Compacting mail folders makes them smaller, saving disk space. From the mail browser, select FILE-FOLDER-COMPACT and select ALL or just the folder you want to compact.
I get mail with exclamation points and arrows, what do these mean?
These marks are priority indicators. An arrow means low priority, an exclamation point is high priority, and no indicator is normal priority. These are set by selecting MAIL-SET PRIORITY in the new message window or selecting the window icon in the same window.
Can I have different email addresses or other email accounts?

I have mail in my "sent" folder and would like to revise it, how can i do that?
You can double click the mail, and copy the text to another new email message by selecting EDIT-SELECT ALL then EDIT-COPY. Paste this in your new mail message. Another way is to forward or reply to the message which puts it in edit mode so you may edit it.
I have a new computer with explorer on it but no email or news.
Some new systems came with microsoft explorer 2.x pre-installed without the mail and news clients. You need to get the NetPlus software and update the ver 2.x browser.
I get email I do not want from different places, what can I do?
When leaving your email address at web sites or sending email to different locations, you can get on email lists and receive unwanted email or "spam". You can try mailing the party involved and requesting your name be removed from their list. As a last resort, you can contact NetPlus and we can change your login name.
I have a relative that needs to get their email from another service, can I get it for them?
If the remote server allows other servers ( like NetPlus) to access their email system, you can retrieve your relative's mail. You must set your mail browser options for the other server. In the mail browser, select MAIL-OPTIONS. Click server tab and change the incoming and outgoing mail servers to the name of the remote mail system. Change the login and password to the other person's account and click OK. If the other system allows the connection, you can then retrieve the remote mail.
I loaded Office97 and now my mail will not work.
When Office97 is installed, its makes outlook the default mail client. This can be changed in the mail browser by selecting MAIL-OPTIONS and selecting SEND tab. Click the box marked "make microsoft internet mail your default email program" Click OK.

How do I access the newsgroups?
From your browser, select MAIL-READ NEWS. If you have never used news before, it will prompt you for your name and email address. Your news server is news.netpluscom.com and you connect manually if asked. It will them finish and download approximately 9000 groups we offer to your system. You can select the group you want to read, and click GOTO. The messages will download to your system. It reads much like your mail browser. To see the groups again, select newsgroups from the top of the browser.
When I launch my news, I get "Error processing /news/104765.asp:(89708000)"
Make sure the default news server is set to news.netpluscom.com which is set in the NEWS-OPTIONS-SERVER tab. The news files could also be corrupted. Locate the directory PROGRAM FILES-INTERNET EXPLORER-INTERNET MAIL AND NEWS-NEWS and delete all the files. Restart the news browser and select NEWSGROUPS and click RESET LIST. If you still have problems, contact NetPlus support.

Why do I get disconnected after 20 minutes?
If our server sees no activity in 20 minutes, it will release the connection. This is easy to do when reading mail or web pages.
How do I see my IP address when connected to NetPlus?
From the start menu, select RUN and type winipcfg and click OK. The IP address will be listed in the window. NetPlus assigns a different IP address each time you log in.
I keep getting disconnected, or I connect at slow speeds. What could be wrong?
You want to first make sure all your networking setups are correct.
There are times when dial up networking in win95 does not respond correctly. Shutting down
the computer and restarting sometimes can eliminate this type of problem. Make sure that
call waiting is disabled (*70). Check that the proper modem driver is installed. If the
proper driver is not available, you may have to try other drivers that are more compatible
with your modem hardware. A standard or generic type modem driver will sometimes be
adequate for good connections. The telephone line itself may be to blame. Any noise,
static, low level, can greatly degrade connectivity. As the line gets worse, the connect
speeds will drop and it is possible the line may disconnect. The telephone line may need
to be tested. If you still have problems, please contact support for further assistance.

How do I unzip a file I downloaded?
You must get the program pkz204g.exe or winzip 6.3 from shareware.com. Winzip is self-installing. To install the DOS version, copy the program pkz204g.exe into its own directory. It will expand all its files. Copy the file pkunzip.exe into the C:\windows\command directory. To unzip a file, at the DOS prompt, type pkunzip "filename".
