Question: My computer cannot send or receive mail. What could be wrong?

Answer: Usually this is a result of wrong mail server names, or the username and/or password is incorrect, or the wrong dial-up connection name is set. To check for these problems, click here and go over the settings.

If you are still having problems after trying this, please call the NetPlus office during business hours.
Question: Why is there a 2 MB file size limit on my e-mail?

Answer: This is a security measure to prevent what are called "e-mail bombs", very large e-mails that can severely slow down or crash a server. A better way to transfer large files is using the NetPlus FTP server. Click here for instructions on using the FTP protocol, and downloading and setting up a free FTP program. (Further down that page are instructions for Macintosh users.)

Question: Can I have different e-mail addresses or other e-mail accounts?

Answer: Yes, this is explained here in more detail.
Question: What are NetPlus' incoming and outgoing server names?

Answer:
NetPlus' incoming mail server is: pop.netpluscom.com
Our outgoing mail server is: smtp.netpluscom.com

Make sure you type these as they appear above, in all lowercase (little) letters.
Question: Someone sends me something in my e-mail, and all I get is a paperclip. What is this?

Answer: The item that was sent is an attachment, which is represented by the paperclip. Clicking on the paperclip will detach it from the message. If your computer does not recognize the file type, double-click the original e-mail message to open it with the attachment on the bottom. Then, right-click on the attachment icon and choose Save as, and choose the folder you want to save it in. If you cannot open it from where you saved it using any of the programs on your computer, then you will need the original program the person created it in. Contact the person who sent it to you for the name of the program they used.
Question: I get mail with exclamation points and arrows, what do these mean?

Answer: These marks are priority indicators for specific messages. An arrow means low priority, an exclamation point is high priority, and no indicator is normal priority.

When you are composing a new e-mail message in Outlook Express, you can set its priority by clicking on the Message menu, choosing Set Priority, and clicking on the level you want there.
Question: How do I access the newsgroups?

Answer: To set up Outlook Express to access newsgroups, click on the Tools menu at the top and choose Accounts. Click on the News tab at the top of the Internet Accounts window that opens. To create a new newsgroup account, click on the Add button on the right and choose News. This will open an Internet Connection Wizard. Type your full name in the "Diaplay name:" field and then click on the Next button at the bottom. Type your e-mail address in the next window and click on the Next button. Type "news.netpluscom.com" (without the quotes) in the "News (NNTP) Server" field and click on the Next button. Click on the Finish button to save your settings and close the wizard. You will see the new account in the Internet Accounts window. Click on the Close button to close Internet Accounts and return to your Inbox. Click on the Yes button when Outlook Express asks you to download newsgroups from the account you just added. (This may take a few minutes.)
