Question: I am getting an error that says I have entered an invalid username and password. What could be causing this? Answer: Make sure the username field only has the username and NOT the entire e-mail address. The username is everything before the "@" symbol in your e-mail address. (e.g. username@netpluscom.com) Also, make sure the username is typed in with all lowercase (little) letters. The password is case sensitive, so you can have uppercase (big) or lowercase (little) letters. The password must be typed in exactly how it was given to NetPlus upon signup. Try deleting the password and retyping it, then hit the Connect button. If you are still having trouble with this, give us a call in the office. You will find our office hours and phone numbers on the NetPlus Quick Reference page. |

Question: I keep getting disconnected, or I connect at slow speeds. What could be wrong? Answer: Shutting down the computer and restarting sometimes can eliminate this type of problem. If you have call waiting, make sure that it is disabled (*70). Check that the proper modem driver/script is installed. If the proper driver is not available, you may have to try other drivers that are more compatible with your modem hardware. A standard or generic type modem driver will sometimes be adequate for good connections. The telephone line itself may also be to blame. Any noise or static can greatly degrade connectivity. As the line gets worse, the connection speeds will drop and it is possible the line may disconnect. The telephone line may need to be tested. If you need help with any of this, please give us a call in the office. You will find our office hours and phone numbers on the NetPlus Quick Reference page. |

Question: Why do I automatically get disconnected after about 20 minutes? Answer: If our server sees no activity on your connection for 20 minutes, it will disconnect you. This mainly occurs when you are reading a lengthy web page or a long e-mail. We have our server set to disconnect if you aren't using the Internet so that lines will be open for other customers to use. The best way to get around this is to set up your e-mail program to check for new messages every five to ten minutes. Click here for instructions on how to do this. |

Question: How do I see my IP address when connected to NetPlus? Answer: NetPlus assigns a different IP address each time you log in. To view the IP address for your current dial-up connection, you can use the Windows IP Config program. Click on the Start button on the bottom left-hand corner of the screen and choose Run. In the window that opens, type "winipcfg" (without the quotes) and click the OK button. This will bring up a screen with the IP labeled. To close that window, click on the "X" in the upper-right corner. |
