Are you unhappy with your connection speeds?

If you have a 56k modem and you are connecting at slower speeds (anywhere from 26,000- 34,000 kbps), it may be time to update your modem drivers. NetPlus is currently using v.90 modem technology on all of our routers. If you have an older 56k modem (such as x2 or kflex) its drivers may be incompatible with our system, resulting in these slower connect speeds.

To verify the date of your modem drivers, do a right-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop and choose Properties from the menu that pops up. Inside the window that opens, click on the Device Manager tab. Scroll through the list of devices until you see the word “Modem,” then click the plus sign beside it. This should list the name of your modem. Click on it to highlight it, then click on the Properties button below. Inside the window that opens, click on the Driver tab at the top. Inside here should be a date. Usually if the date listed here is before Summer of 2000, it is time to update your drivers. Even if it is a newer date, it always helps to keep this driver updated as modem technologies change frequently.

To update your modem drivers, go to your modem manufacturer’s homepage and search there for updated drivers for your specific model. If you do not find what you need there, check out these sites:

http://www.windrivers.com

http://www.driversguide.com

Look for the most recent date for any drivers you choose to install. If you have any questions about finding your modem model number, or installing the drivers once you have downloaded them, give us a call.

NetPlus Web-Based Email

Our web-based mail system is a handy tool for checking your email from another computer when you are way from home. It can be accessed from anywhere in the world, as long as you have a computer with a connection to the internet and a web browser.

If you have a suspected virus, corrupted email message, or an email that is too large to download, you can view it from the web-based mail, and delete it from our servers there, without ever downloading it to your computer.

Web-based mail has a fairly easy to use interface. The instructions below will help you get the most out of this feature.

To get into NetPlus’ web-based mail, go to our homepage (www.netpluscom.com) and click on the Mail link from the list on the left side of the screen. In the window that opens, enter your username and password in the spaces provided and click the Login button on the right. This should open the Mail List screen, with an entry for each of your messages on our server. If it is your first time using the web-based mail, you may get a configuration or settings screen. If you do, click the Save Config button there to take you to the Mail List.

To view a specific message in this window, click on the subject of the message. To print a message, hold down the Ctrl button on your keyboard and hit the letter P while viewing the message body. You will see buttons and links on the screen to perform other actions for specific messages, such as Reply, Forward, and Next Message.

To setup web-based mail to leave a copy of the messages on the server so you can retrieve your messages at home also, click on the Options button at the very top of the Mail List screen. Inside there, you should see a checkmark under the Delete column beside the pop.netpluscom.com heading halfway down the screen. Uncheck it, then hit the Save Config button above it. This will take you back to the Mail List screen. Every message you view from web-based mail will still be there for downloading to your computer when you get home.

If you have any specific questions regarding web-based mail, call your NetPlus tech support. You can find the number to reach us, as well as our hours, at the top of this page.
