Problem: How do I delete my history folder and the
temporary files stored on my computer?
Solution: There are different ways to accomplish this, depending on the web browser
you use. Below you will see instructions for the two most popular browsers, Internet Explorer and
Netscape Navigator.
Netscape Communicator:
- Open the Netscape Communicator program.
- To clear the history files, click on the View menu and choose Options.
- Select the Navigation tab, and click the Clear History button.
- Click the OK button at the bottom of the Options window to save the changes.
- To clear the temporary internet files, click on the View menu and choose Options.
- Select the Advanced tab, click the Settings button, and click Empty Folder.
Microsoft Internet Explorer:
- Open the Internet Explorer program.
- Click on the Tools menu at the top of the screen and choose Internet Options.
- The internet Properties window will open with sections for "Temporary Internet files" in the middle, and "History" at the bottom.
- To clear the history files, click on the Clear History button at the bottom of this window.
- When the small window opens asking if you are sure, click the Yes button.
- To clear the temporary internet files, click on the Delete Files... button in the middle of this window.
- When the small window opens asking if you are sure, click the Yes button.
- Hit the OK button at the bottom of the Internet Properties window to close it and save the changes.
