The Details:
Here's the hydrosonic pump project i've been working on. This is built completely from scratch and all parts
were made in house. The images above were taken at different stages of the machining and assembly process.
The aluminum stock for the rotor was also cast in the shop. I have more images of the machining process, and
i'll be posting those as I get them sorted out. We are now testing the pump. This pump heats water by cavitation,
and we are testing this as a possible heating source. The current setup is using a 5HP motor with a belt pulley
ratio slightly over 2:1 which puts the rotor at about 3,790 RPM. This is on the low end for this size rotor and
in theory it should be running near 5,000 RPM. I'm getting results with the lower RPM, but the next testing
stage will be to increase the RPM. The water is circulated by a boiler circulator pump as the hydrosonic pump
doesn't really have any pumping ability.
