From the Holman Bible Dictionary: SODOMITE Originally a citizen of the town of Sodom, one of the cities of the plain near the Dead Sea (Gen 13:12). The term came to mean a male who has sexual relations with another male. The wickedness of Sodom became proverbial (see Gen. 19:1-11).
