Jacob Spohn Biography

| Jacob Spohn was born in 1791 in Jerusalem Township,
Washington County, near Hagerstown Maryland. He was the son of Adam
Philip Spohn, a Revolutionary War soldier, and Catherine Binkley, whose
father was a Revolutionary War soldier. He was married to Barbara
Rebecca Anspach, the widow of Peter Zartman, on January 3, 1818 in Perry
County, Ohio. He died in 1849 and is buried in Binckley-Ridge Cemetery
beside his wife and probably very near to his father and mother. He and
Barbara had at least seven children.
Jacob served in the War of 1812. He is listed on the roll of Lieutenant John Hamberger's Company on page 162 of the Roster of Ohio Soldiers in the War of 1812. He is also listed on page 188 of the index to servicemen of War of 1812. State of Ohio as a private in Captain John Hamberger's Company. |
