Carl Eugene Hampel

Carl Eugene Hampel, 73, of Little Rock died Saturday, June 10, 2006. He was born Aug. 30, 1932, in Little Rock to Norman and Ruth Grant Hampel.

Mr. Hampel graduated from Little Rock High School. He was the owner and founder of Supreme Fixture Co. Inc., Dixie Equipment Co. Inc. and Supreme Custom Fabricators Inc. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and the Order of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Jo Thornbrough Hampel; three sons, Pat Hampel and wife Lynda of Benton, Mark Hampel and wife Leslie of Ft. Smith and Tim Hampel and wife Shelly of Benton; three daughters, Nancy Nolte and husband Mark of Leawood, Kan., Mary Ashcraft and husband Lee of Benton and Sammie Hampel of Benton; one brother, Grant Hampel and wife Rita of Benton; and 14 grandchildren.

A Rosary Service will be at 7 p.m. today at Ashby Funeral Home with visitation to follow.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Fatima with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The Rev. Michael Bass will officiate.

Pallbearers are Mark Nolte, Ryan Ashcraft, Will Ashcraft, Walter Lucy, Steve Lewis and Glenn Hannah. Honorary pallbearers are Tate Ashcraft, Scott Ashcraft, Steven Hampel, Don Bagwell, Brian Bisgood, Bill McKinney, Jim Moran and Wendell Simpson.

Mary Lou Hogan (Arwood)

Mary Lou Hogan (Arwood) June 13, 1934 - November 3, 2004 COLUMBUS, GA Mary Lou Hogan (Arwood), 70, of Columbus, , died Wednesday, Nov. 3 at the Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 7 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Brad Hicks officiating. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd.

Mrs. Arwood was born June 13, 1934 in N. Little Rock Ark. She was the daughter of the late Coga Black Hogan and Frederick Hogan. She was a member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church and was retired from Matthews Dress Shop and was former co-owner of Peppers BBQ.

Survivors include her husband of thirty nine years, J. Cary 'Burt' Arwood Jr.; two daughters, Kathy Steward and husband Jimmy of Eufaula, Ala. and Sandra Tarkington of Walnut Creek, Calif.; three sons, Wes Arwood and wife Debbie of Edmond, Okla., Tony Steverson of Bonifay, Fla. and Mike Steverson of Chipley, Fla.; one sister, Maxine Tribble and husband Jimmie of Midwest City, Okla.; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; other survivors include a brother-in-law, Jerry Wayne Arwood and wife Monette of Columbus and one sister-in-law, Anne Arwood Price of Phenix City, Ala.

Helen Glenn (Ewbank)

Helen N. Glenn (Ewbank) was born to W.M. Glenn and Edna M. Glenn on March 19, 1934 in Otwell, Arkansas. She was the seventh child born to her parents. She was married to J. Robert Ewbank May 28, 1955 at Baldwin, Kansas where Mr. Ewbank was graduating from Baker University and Helen had attended. She was a long distance operator for the Bell Telephone Company for several years both before and after her marriage. As a pastor's wife for ten years, Mrs. Ewbank participated in the women's Society of Christian Service both locally and on the District Level of the Central Illinois Conference. She joined the Order of the Eastern Star and held offices for two years.

In Albion, Michigan she joined the J.C. auxiliary and served in several offices. She ws named Albion's Outstanding Woman of the Year in 1967 during her years in the J.C. auxiliary.

She worked for a Vice-President of albion College and was the secretary of two deparatments in the college. Most of her work was in accounting. She was head secretary for Herkner, Smits, Miskill and Merrifield, an accounting firm in Benton Harbor, Michigan for several years. She was in the accounting departments of such companies as International Paper in Litachfield, Illinois and Wal-Mart in Coldwater, Michigan.

Once her children were through college, she retired. Though physically limited at the time, she worked part time at the Lighthouse Bakery on Dauphin Island.

She was a member of St Mark Methodist Church and enjoyed pastor Joseph Reams and the other members of the congregation. Mrs. Ewbank is survived by her husband, a daughter Glenda R. Sealy of Dauphin Island, and two sons, Shawn R. Ewbank of Rogers, Arkansas and Todd C. Ewbank of Theodore, Alabama. She is also survived by a sister, Merle Minor of Pekin, Illinois. Also grandchildren, Stephen MccClulrg of Mobile, Robert Alan Ewbank of Jacksonville, Illinois, Katrina Hallam, Angela Webb and Chris Ewbank of Rogers, Arkansas. She has six great grandchildren, Ein, Aleaha and Maria Hallam, Madison Webb and Bayleigh and Austin Ewbank.

A memorial service will be on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Markl's United Methodist Church.

Peggy Ann Raginelli

JONESBORO - Peggy Ann Reginelli, 73, of Jonesboro passed away Friday, June 6, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born in Paragould, Ark., and lived in Jonesboro most of her life. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Rogers and Evelyn Bratton Rogers. Survived by her husband, Phillip Reginelli of the home; one son, Phil Reginelli and his wife Cathy of Memphis, Tenn.; four daughters, Patsy White and her husband, Marty of Jonesboro, Mary Catherine Reginelli of Memphis, Tenn., Becky Gennings and her husband, Grady of Memphis, Tenn., Amy Fusting and her husband Kevin of Baltimore, Md.; one sister, Freddie Linebarier; seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 9, 2008, at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will be private.

Patricia Lee Stephens

Patricia Lee Stephens, of Little Rock, died April 9, 2007. She was born on May 11, 1935 in Little Rock the only daughter of Smith M Lee and Odette Jenkins. She graduated in 1952 from Little Rock High School, attended Hendrix College and received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from Southwest Missouri State University. Mrs. Stephens was member of St. Margaret’sEpiscopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild, Flower Guild, as a lay reader and Lay Eucharistic Minister.

Preceding her death were her parent’s and her husband, Marion L. Stephens Jr. and son, William M. Helms Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Sarah Helms Piwonka and her husband Max of Memphis; Lee Anne Helms; step son M. Lee Stephens III and his wife Tiffany; and seven grandchildren, Beth, Trey and Ben Helms and Emily, Megan, and Mallory Piwonka, and Beau Stephens. Her special friends, Lynda Campbell, Jo Ann Hurley, and Barbara Clark also survive her.

A memorial service will be held at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev. Peggy Bosmeyer officiating. A committal service will be at 10:30, Thursday at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot.

Robert (Bobby) Presley Treadway

Robert (Bobby) Presley Treadway, 71, of Little Rock, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2007. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, and in later years, a member of Tyler Baptist Church, and was a Shriner.

He is survived by his wife, B. J. Horton Treadway; son, Larry Treadway and wife, Shannon; grandsons, Justin Treadway and wife, Bridget, and Tyler Treadway; step-grandchildren, Logan Butler and Payton Butler; brother, Billy Treadway and wife, Margie; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 14, from 2-4 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. Charles Mabern Adcock

     CHARLES MABERN ADCOCK, age 66, of Little Rock died Saturday, April 27, 2002. He was born in Dardanelle, Ark., later moving to Little Rock where he graduated from Little Rock Senior High School. He went on to graduate with a degree in Political Science, Languages and Literature from Arkansas Tech in Russellville. While in both high school and college he was a sports correspondent for the Arkansas Democrat. He also met and married Dale Allen.

     After school they moved to Cherry Valley, Arkansas where Charlie coached and taught at the high school one year and in 1958 moved to Little Rock where he became the sports writer for the Arkansas Democrat until 1963 when he accepted the appointment of Commissioner of the Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference. In 1974 he resigned his commission to become a general agent for the Shield of Shelter Insurance Company. Charlie loved all sports and especially fishing, golf and gardening.

     He is survived by his wife Dale Allen Adcock of Little Rock; his mother Fannie Sue Walker Adcock of Little Rock; one son Charles Allen Adcock of Little Rock; on daughter Michelle Place and husband Kirk of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother Danny Adcock and wife Helen of Bryant, Ark.; one sister Sue Frueauff of Little Rock; and three grandchildren, Laura Place, and Courtney and Cody Adcock.

     There will be a visitation Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed Wednesday with a funeral service at the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m.

     Burial will be at the New Hope Cemetery at 4 p.m. at New Hope, Ark.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Arkansas Rice Depot or a favorite charity.

Ronald Dean Harney

BENTON — Ronald Dean Harney, 73, of Benton passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, after a long battle with COPD. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Harris Declerk; father, Raymond Harney; his stepfather, Quinton Declerk and his sister, Carolyn Brancheau.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 50 years, Audean Coker Harney; his son, Michael Harney; his daughter, Michelle and son-in-law, David Wright; brothers, Kenneth Harney (Vanine) and Daniel Declerk (Becky) and many nieces and nephews who all loved him.

“Grampy” will be truly missed by his greatest treasures, his grandchildren, Jessica Wright Phillips and husband Blake, Rachael Wright and her fiancé, Christopher Swaty, Spencer Harney and littlest angel, Blakley Harney.

Mr. Harney was retired from the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette where he worked for 39 years and made many friends that he kept for life.

Visitation will be at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton on Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Highway 5 in Alexander.

Joyce Brewster Stiedle

Joyce Stiedle, 71, of Little Rock, passed away October 30, 2006. Born May 8, 1935, in West Fork, Arkansas, to Edna and Eugene Brewster. Joyce married Paul P. Stiedle on January 26, 1958. She is survived by her husband, Paul; children Paul C. Stiedle of Saline County, Cami Sims of Oklahoma City, OK, Rebecca Rivera of Rayne, LA, and Todd B. Stiedle of Little Rock; sisters Shirley McFarlin of Little Rock and Doris Golenor of Mayflower; brother Gayle Brewster of Oklahoma City, OK; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Joyce taught science at Henderson Junior High School for 21 years and coordinated the Health Science magnet program. In her retirement, she was an active member of Western Hills United Methodist church where she worked mostly with the children's program.

Joyce will be remembered for her great love towards her family and friends. She was proud of her children and enjoyed their friendship. She always opened her home and heart to those in need and offered a home-cooked meal, fresh vegetables from the garden, and a healthy dose of laughter and encouragement. She loved teaching and spent extra time planning fun ways to learn. She invented games and songs to teach God's word to the children at church.

As a child Joyce's parents worked and lived in the Japanese relocation camp at Rohr. This experience taught her compassion toward and acceptance of people from all races. She taught this lesson to her children and grandchildren.

Joyce was a member of Western Hills United Methodist Church and Living Truth Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to charity of your choice. Although Joyce approved of all charitable work, she particularly supported New Beginning Ministries, P.O. Box 233, Houston, AR; L.T. Care Ministries, P.O. Box 164660, Little Rock; and the Little Rock Compassion Center, 3618 W. Roosevelt Road, Little Rock, AR 72204. Michael "Pat" Thomas

Michael "Pat" Thomas, 70, of Little Rock, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, July 2, 2006. Pat was born April 24, 1935, Holderville, Oklahoma. He spent 35 years of his life helping others as a respected pharmacist at Tedlord's Drug Store in East Little Rock. He always put others before himself including family, friends, and even strangers. He will be dearly missed by those who were blessed to know him.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Jane, son Kirk Thomas of N. Little Rock, daughter Melanie Thomas of Marina Del Rey, California. A brother Mike Thomas of Houston, Texas, twin sisters Susan Horner of Hot Springs, Ark., & Kathy Moss of Siloam Springs, Ark., grandson Jeffrey & Josh Thomas of North Little Rock, Ark. and a host of other friends and loved ones.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2006 at 1 p.m. at the Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, 4823 Woodlawn Avenue, Little Rock, Ark., with Rev. Lynn Lindsey officating.

     William F. "Bill" Poorman, 68, of Springdale died Friday in Fayetteville. He was born Aug. 9, 1935, in Little Rock to William F. and Hazel Gwlynndora Burway James.

     He was a sales manager at Meeks Lumber Co. and was a Baptist.

     Survivors include his wife Shirley "Fulks" Poorman of the home; two sons, Wade Poorman of Snow Hill, N. C., and Duane Poorman of Lowell; one daughter, Janet Brawner of Paragould; a half-brother, John Berkley of Bentonville; his mother, Hazel Gwlynndora Berkley of Hulbert, Okla.; four half-sisters, Nancy Foster of Hulbert, Okla., Mary Sue Eppley of Little Rock, Gwlynnda Mae Irek of Rockwall, Texas, and Julie Purdue of Roland; and six grandchildren.

     Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bluff Cemetery with Jeff Crawford officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
