I received this tonight. Here is a copy in case you did not get one.

This will answer the question...............................where did they go?

I hope you all are staying warm! We have had only two days here in Houston in the past two weeks that I could go out without a jacket. The weather forecast for the next week is...............jacket weather!!

I guess it is payback time for our long hot summer of 2009.

Regards to you all,

Soooo sorry to learn of your fall and painful ribs - ouch! Please take care of yourself. The website can wait!!! The Class of 1949 had a delightful gathering for the 60th reunion. About 150 folks were here - not all attending everything. This group definitely enjoys a good time and it was evident they were delighted to be here. The Thursday night gathering at Whole Hog Barbecue was a big success - people sat around and visited, ordered b-bcue when they were hungry, enjoyed the tea, wine and beer and in general had a roaring good time while picking up their name tags and perusing the 60th booklets. Friday night was the dinner dance at the CCLR - and there were folks dancing until the band shut down. Saturday morning was the brunch prepared by Jean Ann Rosenbaum Morris - too much food and all of it delicious. We had a six-seater golf cart cruising the neighborhood to drive folks to the door from their cars - a big hit. It sprinkled a bit, but did not dampen the enthusiasm of this group. Hopefully we got a group picture to share later. I know all the members of our class join me in saying "Get Well" and take care of yourself. Hugs, Joanne Hamilton Riddick '49

Ray - Attached are three attachments - our 60th Reunion letter (2 pages) + registration sheet + updated list of our "lost" and additions to our In Memoriam list. I would appreciate your posting them on our '49 page. All of this information was mailed this week to our mailing list. Wish you could join us.

I think it would be appropriate to delete the 55th Plans and Reunion Letter, Announcement of the 55th, Mini-Reunion in October and possibly the pictures from past reunions. Hopefully we will have some new ones to post after this reunion. I am working on a complete list of the Obits section for '49 and will forward it soon to take the place of the one that is now posted.

You do an amazing job and such a wonderful service for all of us from LRHS. Let me know how I may be of help to YOU. Joanne Hamilton RIddick '49

Oley Eldon Rooker

LITTLE ROCK — Oley Eldon Rooker, 78, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2009, at his home in Little Rock.

He was born on Nov. 2, 1931, at Des Arc.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 52 years, Meredith Lynn Ward Rooker.

I don't know how it goes in your part of the country, but the Civil War still is going on in Alabama. The Sons of Confederate Veterans still put out flags and signs along the interstates. The South shall rise again!! One sign said, 'Surrender, Hell!' When some damnyankee (that's all one word) stops in a restaurant, as soon as they hear his 'accent', the patrons really start teasing him. I'm glad I don't have an a-u-ksent. :-)

Sunny and 41 right now. We had 3 inches of rain Friday then an inch of snow Saturday night and Sunday. Was too warm, however, and the snow melted in 3 hours. But it was pretty while it lasted. Supposed to be 70 by Friday. I am ready for spring!

Here is the latest on John.

We visited with he and Barbara and son yesterday at Methodist Hospital - Medical Center. He had the surgery last Friday.

We talked for about an hour about the good old days in LR. We had not seen them since their anniversary party a couple of years ago. They live out north and we live in the southwest part of Houston. A lot of miles between us but we have the phone and email.

Dear Friends,
The pathology report has come back, and IT IS ALL CLEAR! NO CANCER!! John somehow had no problems, then developed chronic pancreatic and had to have the surgery. It was DEFINITELY pre-cancerous, but was caught in time.
One of his doctors said today that John is the healthiest patient he has ever had in his 30 years practice. I asked him what he was doing in the hospital if he was so healthy! The doctors are all flabbergasted. John is supposed to be coming home within the next couple of days - probably tomorrow, but no promises.
We will be forever in debt to all of you for your prayers, concerns, emails, calls, everything. Now you can pray for me to be able to take care of him. He has only walked approximately 4 times and still has a bunch of tubes, etc. They said most of this will be gone when they release him. He has not eaten a solid meal yet. He is still on broth. I wish they would wait until he has a regular meal or two to see how he will handle it, but I am not the doctor.
Thank you all again. You have been great.
Barbara

Jim, item 8 on Rays changes gives me credit for Grady Millers message. As I read the 47 letters I realized that I had met Rose many years ago. I worked for Eddie Tabor Grocery at 23 rd and Arch for four or five years in Junior & Senior High days. Actually, I knew her mother and grandmother very well and peddled many- many bags of groceries up that steep driveway. The WW I German helment referred to would likely belong to Rose's Grandmother Shipman. I often cashed a military pension check for her and the address included "To the unmarried widow of" (do not recall the rank of Rose's grandfather--but it seems it was high).

Pass my regrets to Grady for steeling his lime light, I could not find his e-mail listing .
