I know you wrote me yesterday saying there is a problem for you getting our LRHS obituaries updated on your website. However, if you can no longer list classmates on the obit lists maybe you can let people know that they can read Letters from Classmates on their year of graduation and they can read those e-mails and see who died. Just wanted to tell you another of our 1953 classmates died November 4, 2009 and is in today's newspaper, Patti Pauli Allen, who lived in Pangburn, Arkansas.

I am so sorry you have been in the hospital after falling and I know all your work for the lrhs website has stacked up. Bobbie McElroy saw the obituary recently of one of our LRHS classmates, Laura Gene Moyer Bennett. Please list her on our 1953 obit list even though she did not graduate with us she attended with us the 10th and 11th grades. She died April 7, 2009 in Lubbock, TX where she lived. Her funeral was in Alexander, Ark. and burial there also at Forest Hills Memorial Park.

I saw Charles Patterson's Obit in the paper Wed. I don't remember if Charles was in the class of '53 or not. When we went to Mitchell school and he was in our class at that time. However, seems like he was held back a grade when we went to West Side jr. High.

Anyway, he was a good man and we hunted quail many times togather back in the 50's and 60's.

I just phoned Pat Stone Frawley and she said that a friend who wanted to use Pat's computer came over recently and put a bunch of her incoming e-mails on a spam list to not be received. I finally took the time to look in the class of '50 to find out if my husbands death date was listed. His name was but the date wasn't. It should read "Bill Davis, 10/18/01. He had bladder cancer when he died nearly 8 years ago.

I found myself with a bit of time to do some catching up on record keeping and found a couple of things that need your attention on the website.

1.) On the "Class of '53 Lost Tigers" listing, you can delete Helen Skelton Bales. I'm surprised she hasn't notified you herself since you are hearing from her on a regular basis.

2.) I also noticed, on the "Lost Tiger" listing for the class of 1952, you have Bill Hill listed, and he is also on the 1952 Obit listing.

Since these are what I consider "housekeeping details", please just make the necessary changes and I don't think it will be necessary to mention in your next newsletter.

Hope the winter weather hasn't inconvenienced you too much, and that this letter finds you doing well.

Subject: Gasoline vs. Ethanol

Wonder if you are saving money using Ethanol (fuel containing alcohol)? So did I, so I did a little research. I thought you might be interested in what I found and start looking for a 100% gasoline retailer. Ethanol causes small engines (lawnmowers, edgers, and any 2 cycle air cooled engines) to run hotter and will probably cause shorter engine life.

Following is a table that shows the relative BTU content of a gallon of gasoline vs.a gallon of ethanol. BTU is a measure of contained energy. You can see that gasoline has significant more contained energy than ethanol. I must assume that gasoline will provide significantly more power and likely better gas mileage.

There is one station in my area that sells 100% gasoline at about $.10 per gallon more. I haven't done the math but I'll bet it would be cheaper in the long run to buy the 100% gasoline at the higher per gallon price.
