Reunion Booklet and CD Disk (two or more): The Reunion Booklet will have pictures and profiles of 1948, Band, 1950. This will be down loaded from the CD for printing. The CD Disk will have pictures and profiles. The reason of 2 or more disks (at the present Hollis Wreyford has two disks) depends on the number of profiles to be added for various classes. Please get the Profiles mailed or e-mailed as soon as possible. It takes time in preparing these disks and booklets. The booklets will be printed by Phil Tackett '49. The deadline is February 1, 2003. More information on this at a later date. Hollis has everthing ready, pictures of classmates 48, Band,'50 and about 100 profiles.

His computer says no more or I will crash. So now he is trying to figure out the next move. He wants to save the computer and save the information. Any helpful suggestion, call Hollis.

Weather and Dress: April weather is usually perfect. According to the weather forcast, your guess is some where between 60 and 80. The Friday events "come as you choose". For the pictures, it is just the face the important thing, not the dress. Saturday for Tour, comfortable shoes, comfortable clothes and bring camera. Saturday evening will require jacket for men and women will dress up a bit (surely we can do this for one evening). Sunday Brunch will be travel attire, Church clothes or whatever -- this will be your choice.

Last minute cancellation: None!!! we hope -- However, if necessary, call 501-316-9120, Betty Pilcher (Blacklaw) or Al Blacklaw, '49, or e-mail aab1930@aol.com, address 772 South Avilla Heights, Alexander, AR 72202. Please be considerate and advise us so we do not hold a place for you and pay for food.

Tom Curry's 55TH
REUNION MESSAGE!

TO THE CLASS OF 1948 AND FRIENDS

OUR CLASS, ALONG WITH THE LRHS BAND ALUMNI, HAS BEEN REQUESTED TO JOIN THE CLASS OF 1950 FOR THEIR 53RD CLASS REUNION. WE KNOW THAT IT WILL BE AN OUTSTANDING EVENT. THE COMBINED REUNIONS WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY--APRIL 25, 26, & 27 2003.

THERE ARE SEVERAL POSITIVE REASONS FOR THE GREAT IDEA OF COMBINING THESE REUNIONS. FIRST, THE SELECTION OF PLEASANT VALLEY COUNTRY CLUB IN LITTLE ROCK FOR OUR EVENT GIVES US A VERY NICE FACILITY WITH A BALLROOM LARGE ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE COMBINED GROUPS. SECONDLY, IT SPREADS THE COSTS OVER A LARGER NUMBER OF PEOPLE.

DURING THE WEEKEND OUR CLASS WILL HAVE SOME SEPARATLY SCHEDULED TIME WHICH WILL ENABLE US TO VISIT AND HAVE A GOOD TIME TOGETHER. WE WILL HAVE OUR OWN REGISTRATION DESK AND OUR OWN MEMORIAL SERVICE ON SUNDAY MORNING. WE MAY ALSO HAVE A RECEPTION OR OPEN HOUSE JUST FOR OUR CLASS.

OUR CLASS WILL BE HAVING OUR FIRST ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING AT JULIE”S RESTAURANT (MARKHAM AND SHACKELFORD ROADS IN LITTLE ROCK) AT 11:30 A.M. ON WEDNESDAY APRIL 10TH, THIS WILL BE A DUTCH TREAT LUNCHEON WHERE YOU CAN ORDER FROM THE MENU.

THE DATES, FACILITY, BAND, ETC HAVE BEEN SELECTED AND ARE IN PLACE. OUR RESPONSIBILITY WILL BE PRIMARILY IN ONLY TWO OR THREE AREAS. WE WILL NEED HELP IN THE RECEPTION AREA SIGNING IN OUR FRIENDS AND OUR MEMORIAL SERVICE. IF WE DECIDE TO HAVE A OPEN HOUSE OR RECEPTION FOR OUR GROUP WE WILL NEED A COMMITTEE TO TAKE CHARGE OF THIS EVENT.

THE COSTS FOR THE REUNION HAVE NOT BEEN SET. YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SELECT ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES THAT YOU WILL WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN DURING THE WEEKEND.

CHECK IN WILL BE FRIDAY AT 9 A.M. APRIL 25TH, FOLLOWED BY A COUNTRY BREAKFAST AT THE CLUB. THERE WILL BE A GREAT BAND AND A SEATED DINNER ON SATURDAY EVENING. A WONDERFUL TIME IS BEING PLANNED, AND YOU WILL WANT TO MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS EARLY.

A CONTRIBUTION FOR POSTAGE AND OTHER PRE REUNION EXPENSES WOULD BE SINCERELY APPRECIATED. THIS REUNION IS IN PLACE AND OUR CLASS WILL BE ABLE TO ENJOY IT TO ITS FULLEST EXTENT WITHOUT A LOT OF RESPONSIBILITIES. COME JOIN US FOR LUNCH, AND FELLOWSHIP AT JULIE’S APRIL 10TH.

LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU,

TOM CURRY

Class '48 Meets at Julie's Restaurant
By Grace Kirkpatrick (Johnston)

LRHS ALUMNI CLASS OF 1948 met April 10, 2002 at Julie's Restaurant on Shackleford and Markham Streets to discuss Reunion 2003.

Those present were Vance Boyd, Tom Curry, Dale Diffee, Neil Dobbins, Stan Goldberg, Stan Gray, Grace Kirkpatrick Johnston and Marilyn Frazier Winbourn from Little Rock, Bill and Rachel Cook from Arkadelphia and Gary McNutt from California.

It was decided that the 1948 Class would combine with 1950 Alumni plans for Reunion 2003 on the 25th. and 26th. of April.

Those present voted not to plan anything for Saturday afternoon. Instead Tom Curry is checking into a possible Sunday April 27 breakfast and memorial service at the Oasis.

Dale Diffee volunteered to help with registration and other members will be available for any needs to make the reunion a success.

LRHS CLASS 48 PLANS FOR
55th REUNION IN 2003!
By Marilyn Frasier (Winburne)

My notes start with my receiving a mail-out telling of a reunion set for 2003 for the class of 1948, 1950, and 1927 - 57 of the band.

It included an invitation to the 1948 grads that were interested to a lunch meeting at Julie’s on April 10th. I attended this meeting and to my recollection there were 11 of us in attendance. Tom Curry presided over this meeting and the events scheduled for the reunion were briefly discussed and Dale Diffie was asked to head the registering of the 1948 guests and get others to help. No prices for events were known at this time. A memorial service was discussed and it was agreed that we wanted a service on Sunday Morning and preferably at the Oasis and Tom Curry said he would make the arrangements.

On April 29th a group of us that were interested were asked to meet at Frances Smith Busch’s home to discuss how we were going to contact our list of graduates, finances and who could do what. It was agreed that graduates living in Little Rock could be called to see if they were even interested in the reunion and therefore receive future mailouts. Betty Biddy Maddox agreed to do some calling as did Betty Isgrig. After some discussion about finances a motion was made to change the bank account to Pulaski Bank as they would not charge a monthly fee and the treasurers would be Sam Strauss, Neil Dobbins, Dale Diffie, and Frances Smith (Busch) and there would have to be 2 signatures on checks. The motion was seconded and passed.

The 1950’s group meeting was April 30th and 6 of us were in attendance. Phil Dixon presided and all activities for the reunion were discussed and a price/fee assessed to each. Registration will be $7.50 per person, country breakfast $17.50 per person, bus tour $10.00, Dinner-dance $25.00 per person and Oasis Memorial on Sunday $10.00 per person.

We found out that the main reunion committee wanted only one registration desk and they would already have name tags ready so Dale Diffie and his committee would not be needed.

Neil Dobbins was asked to be contact person for the 48 group. A mail-out will be available to mail soon and we will be given 200 and be responsible for printed the more and sending it out. The 50’s group will meet again on May 14th at Franke’s and others are invited. Then the 1950 reunion committee will not meet again until the fall.

On May 9th, 6 of the interested 1948 class met to try to complete business. Those attending were Frances Smith (Busch), Neil Dobbins, Radine Miller (Clarke), Dale Diffie, Joy Pritchett (McLauglin) and Marilyn Frasier (Winburne). Chairman Tom Curry did not attend and Betty Bitty Maddox and Betty Isgrig were not present.

Copies of an agenda for the reunion prepared by the 1950 reunion group was distributed to those attending.

It was announced that the new bank account at Pulaski Bank required a secretary and so it was made a motion, seconded and voted that Marilyn Frasier (Winburne) would serve as secretary.

The status of the Regions Bank account was discussed. It was still open as the chairman had been requested to bring the checkbook. The account had been reconciled by Dale Diffie up to February 2002 with a balance of $249.47. Sam Strauss had the last statement sent to Neil Dobbins and as of 4/22/02 the Regions account had a balance of $475.47. That account was closed on 5/9/02, and a check of $485.57 was given to the treasurer and that amount was deposited in the new account at Pulaski bank along with $65.00 in new contributions and the $150.00 deposited to start the account made a balance of $700.47. The new deposits were $15.00 Eugene Piazza, $25.00 Leslie Jones, and $25.00 Vaughn Jackson.

It was agreed to have the booklets we had left over from the 50th reunion on a table for sale for $5.00 during this reunion.

Discussion was lively about sending a cover letter and information about the reunion before the cost of postage goes up June 1. It was agreed to send a letter with the reunion information and we will meet again on Wednesday, May 15th at 1 p.m. to do a mailout.
