On September 9, 2002 the Sheridan Generals defeated the River View Black Bears 40-7 to begin an MVL winning streak that has been rolling for 24 games now. The current Sheridan streak represents the longest in the MVL Archive records, which currently date back to 1965. The New Concord team of the late 1950s looks to be the only team that may rival this streak as the Archive continues to work backwards through the seasons.

Whether or not the current Sheridan streak represents the longest in MVL history, one thing is for sure: The Generals of recent years have been notorious for long winning streaks. In fact, the period from 1992 to 1999 saw Sheridan produce three of the longest streaks on record (19 games; 21 games; 20 games). Furthermore, the three streaks were consecutive, as the 19-game streak was halted in a 15-14 loss at Philo during the opening week of the '95 season. The very next week Sheridan began a 21-game streak that would ultimately be broken by Crooksville in 1997. Following a loss to Morgan the next week, the Generals would start streaking again, for 20 more wins. This period saw the Generals post 60 wins against 3 losses, a .952 winning percentage from 11/6/92 to 10/22/99.

I have compiled a list of the longest MVL winning streaks in the MVL Archive. I am fairly certain I have not excluded any streaks of 15 games or more, but I may be mistaken. If you believe I am, send a message to the Archive. Also, please note that these are winning streaks; not unbeaten streaks (Ties break streaks), and only apply to MVL contests, non-league games have not been considered in the tabulations.
